We take safeguarding seriously.
We carry out compulsory recruitment checks for any adult volunteers who work directly with girls.
We have a dedicated national safeguarding team who work with our volunteers managing all allegations, concerns and disclosures following our safeguarding policy and procedures.
Girlguiding offers girls a space to belong and have fun. We bring girls together to have incredible adventures, figure out what makes them tick, share laughs and learn about the world around them. Maybe you recognise us from your own childhood, used to know us as the ‘Girl Guides’, or spotted our iconic Jeff Banks-designed uniform out and about? Whether your child comes from generations of guiding or your family’s completely new to our movement, she’ll find a space to belong here.
Yes!
Everyone is welcome to join Girlguiding. That includes you as a parent or carer! There are ways to get involved in guiding – no matter how much time you have or how new you are to guiding – and some from the comfort of your own home.
Our membership fees are called subscriptions or ‘subs’. Subs allow us to offer brilliant opportunities to your child and hundreds of thousands of others across the UK. They cover the cost of equipment, activities and hiring a meeting place. They’re normally paid termly or monthly, but other options are available. Your local volunteer team or unit leader can discuss these with you.
We don’t want girls to miss out on guiding for any reason. If you’re concerned about costs preventing your daughter from taking part, please speak to your unit leader. They can tell you about ways we can help.
Our uniform gives everyone in guiding a sense of belonging and pride in being part of guiding. We don’t have one set uniform – we take a flexible approach.
Buying uniform directly from us is the only way to make sure all profits go to Girlguiding. It allows us to offer life-changing opportunities to even more girls.
Unit leaders will often have second hand uniform available. Please ask when your daughter joins.
